Come for the view and stay for the lobster roll (and clam chowder) at our favorite lunch spot in Santa Barbara! The Santa Barbara Shellfish Company.
You know when you’ve been doing something for so long that you don’t remember when or how it begun? Well, that’s how it’s been for us going to the Santa Barbara Shellfish Company for lunch.
The best I can do at remembering is we happened to find it on one of our weekend getaways about 18 years ago.
It’s easy to find, you go to the wharf and it’s a little place at the very end. It’s a very California casual restaurant with Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles, Tom Petty, etc. always playing in the background and the staff is very welcoming.
When you get there the first thing to do is put your name on the clipboard hanging in front of the door. In the image below you’ll see one of the servers with his back turned, he’s checking out the clipboard to see who’s next to be seated.
You actually have three options for seating. Out on the benches below, which do not require you to put you name on the list. You can place your order at the side window and bring your food here.
Beautiful view, isn’t it?
Or you can eat inside or at a table outside, both places you’ll have a server. These spots require you to put your name on the list.
We like to eat inside, it’s a total California atmosphere with the music going and people having a great time. They always have their specials on the black board. You cannot go wrong with any choice.
To get your mouth watering…this a the lobster roll.
And, let’s not forget about the clam chowder.
Maybe I should have started with this picture…this will be your view. Nice!
This is why we drive up every three-ish months, a great view, great food, and an awesome time.
