Every season brings with it an opportunity to update and improve your wardrobe. In the winter it’s fun to add a few sweaters and accessories. In the summer you might find a great blouse, some nice cropped pants or a fun pair of sandals. The fall and spring seasons are often forgotten in the excitement of the summer and winter season. Yet they offer some truly fantastic opportunities. So let’s talk about a few items to include in you spring wardrobe essentials.
A Transitional Season
Spring is a transitional season. You’re bridging your summer and winter wardrobes. This can be a challenge. However, it also presents a number of opportunities.
In fact, transitional seasons are a time when you can have a feeling of twice the wardrobe. You might wear a sweater and wool pants one day and a tank top and flip flops the next. Bridging the transition with a few key items can help you feel more stylish as well as savvier with your money and clothing budget.
Let’s dive in…
#1 A Patterned Dress
The first piece to add to include in your spring wardrobe essentials list is the patterned dress. From a t-shirt dress to a wrap around dress, the first thing to focus on when adding this piece to your wardrobe is the fit and style. What style flatters you most? Most people find that a wrap around dress is flattering (I do). However, you’ll want to try a few different styles.
From that point, choose a pattern that makes you smile. Do you love polka dots? Then that’s the pattern for you. What about plaid, chevron, or an animal print? You can wear your patterned dress with a sweater on cooler days and alone when it’s warm. They go well with strappy sandals or boots, depending on the weather.
Now if you’re saying, “Patterns…nooooo!” A print can also be monochromatic.
#2 A Great Pair of Flats
Flats go with everything and they can help you bridge the gap between winter and summer. Spring flats can be in lighter colors like light blue, pink, and periwinkle. I’m loving my Sam Edelman flats.
If you have enough flats in your closet, then go ahead and buy a new pair of exercise sneakers. Warm weather is just around the corner and you can take your exercise program outdoors.
#3 Flare Jeans
Flare jeans are on trend this season. They flatter a number of body shapes and they look great with a tucked in blouse or t-shirt.
If flare jeans aren’t your thing, you can’t go wrong with straight-leg. They’re suitable for casual or dressed up. You can wear them with your new flats or sneakers, depending on your mood.
#4 A Knit Top
Knit can be dressed up or down. It can be worn over or under other sweaters or shirts as well. Look for a knit top with ruching or a wrap waist to help define your curves. As a side note…the one I picked for the example below is in rose, which happens to be a color everyone can wear and not looked washed out.
#5 A Pastel Handbag
Spring is a great time to bring out the pastels and enjoy them. Here’s an idea…try a pastel handbag in pink or lavender. And it’s a perfect time to buy a piece of new jewelry or accessory.
Just a few key pieces can add life and fun to your Spring wardrobe essentials. They can help you enjoy the spring season and have a seemingly limitless wardrobe.
