For my fourth scarf in the Bella Italia Scarf Collection I have Siena’s Central Square inspired scarf. We’ve only been to Siena once, but this Tuscan hill town made an impression on us.
The Piazza del Campo dominates the city center. It’s one of the biggest medieval squares in the world and has an unmistakable peculiar shell-shape.
Side Note: Every year on July 2 and August 16 the famous Palio Horse Race takes place here. It’s where 10 of the 17 contrade, or neighborhoods, compete for the coveted Palio banner and..all-important bragging rights.
Below is a view from the top of the tower, Torre del Mangia, just below the bell. The people look like ants, don’t they?
This is a view looking down the center of the stairs as we started to go head down from the top of the tower. Yes, no elevator.
400 steps! 335 feet.
My Siena’s Central Square inspired scarf is just about ready. It’s the fourth in my newest collection of scarves that are inspired by the wonderful towns and cities in Italy.
They are truly unique and they are art you can wear. Make sure you’re on my mailing list, so you can be the first to know when I have each available!
