For my second scarf in the Bella Italia Collection I have created a Pisa Tower inspired scarf. You might think this would be a typical choice because the Leaning Tower of Pisa is so famous. I picked this site because we’ve only been here twice and, we have more stories to tell about this little town than you would ever image. By the way…the stories have nothing to do about the tower.
This is the “front entrance” of the Piazza dei Miracoli where the Pisa Tower is located. Most people think the Tower sits all by itself. Actually, the Piazza dei Miracoli is dominated by four great religious buildings: Baptistery, Leaning Tower, Cathedral and Camposanto Monumentale (Monumental Cemetery).
An Uncommon Angle
Here’s a shot of the Leaning Tower from an angle you don’t see too often…behind the Cathedral. You can really appreciate the leaningness (I think I just made up a word), if you look at the base of the Tower.
The People in Comparison
In the image below, look how small the people are in comparison. That’ll give you a feeling of how tall the Tower stands. Each level is more than three times the height of the people you see.
The Tower in Comparison
Now, look how small the Pisa Tower is compared to the Baptistery (the big, round building on the left) in the image below. Amazing, isn’t it?
The Pisa Tower is the most famous building in the Piazza dei Miracoli, but certainly not the largest.
Curious about our travel stories relating to Pisa? I’ll have to save that for another time. Or, over a glass of wine…Italian of course!
As I mentioned in the beginning, I have created a Pisa Tower inspired scarf. It’s the second in my newest collection of scarves that are inspired by the wonderful towns and cities in Italy.
They are truly unique and they are art you can wear. Make sure you’re on my mailing list, so you can be the first to know when I have each available!
